DOES IT WORK?
Here's a selection of comments we've received from churches and individuals following our radio campaigns...
Front page coverage
"There was front page coverage of our radio ads in the Pompey Chimes, so people did hear about it even if they didn't tune into Power FM. Also, we were able to witness a big increase in people hitting the Portsmouth Churches website, looking for details of services because of our personalised ending!"
Station manager impressed
"The Christmas adverts were broadcast on Wessex FM. The station and the churches were very impressed by the ads. The station manager was expecting a cringe production but was taken aback by the creativity. A wide range of churches were involved. The ads have resulted in an excellent relationship with the station which is expected to lead to further church involvement."
Applause for initiative
"Just to let you know that the local press have picked up on the ads. One, the St Albans Observer, wrote an enthusiastic editorial applauding the initiative."
Opening doors with local media
"We thought you'd like to know that the campaign run by St Thomas had a good impact. We had 25 new people attend the two services advertised. We appeared in the Manchester Evening News. I was interviewed on Greater Manchester Radio on their drive time show. We were on the front page of the Oldham Advertiser. We had a follow up article done by the Oldham Chronicle. The Revolution radio station were so delighted with the campaign that they have asked us to consider sponsoring a daily thought for the day."
Manchester Evening News
And finally... the Manchester Evening News ran a piece headlined "Radio jingle bells", which read...
"A church has taken out adverts with a Manchester radio station in a bid to boost flagging attendances during the festive season. St Thomas Delph, in Delph, Oldham, paid for a catchy radio jingle to be broadcast across the airwaves following concerns that the real message of Christmas was being forgotten. Regular churchgoer Michael Harvey persuaded St Thomas Delph, in Church Street, to fork out for 40 adverts on prime-time radio to encourage people to come to carol services. He said: 'People refer to Christmas as Xmas because they have forgotten about Christ. They have forgotten what it's all about. I genuinely think people enjoy what has become a festival without realising the true meaning.'" |
